I am sharing my personal experience after undergoing an explant procedure with Dr. Perez Gurri at Imagos Plastic Surgery. Procedure was supposed to be a breast implant removal with capsulectomy, date of surgery July 2025.
I returned to him 10 years after my original augmentation, trusting that my concerns and surgical requests would be handled carefully. I was an out-of-state patient and had clearly communicated in advance that capsulectomy was important to me during my explant.
Following surgery, when I asked for clarification regarding capsule removal, I did not receive clear, direct answers. My questions were minimized, and I was told capsule removal was “not necessary,” despite prior discussions. I also requested operative documentation and images related to the procedure and found it unnecessarily difficult to obtain complete records, which are still to be obtained. As someone traveling from out of state, transparency and documentation were very important to me.
The procedure itself was much shorter than I anticipated for an explant with capsulectomy, which added to my concerns. While Dr. Perez Gurri is personable and confident, I relied on those reassurances and ultimately felt that my expectations and specific requests were not fully honored.
When I expressed that I wanted to take precautionary measures related to Breast Implant Illness (even though I did not claim to have it), I felt dismissed. That experience made me feel unheard.
To be clear, this review is not about my final aesthetic result, as outcomes can vary. It is about communication, documentation, and how my concerns were addressed before and after surgery.
If you are considering explant, especially if thorough capsule removal and detailed documentation are important to you, I would strongly encourage asking very direct questions and ensuring your surgeon’s practice is heavily focused on explant procedures.
Based on my experience, I would not choose this practice again. Please keep looking for the right surgeon that makes you feel heard and won't dismiss you, you deserve to be heard and respected. Especially if it was a contract that was signed and you paid for a specific procedure to be done.
If transactional comes to mind then you aren't far off because that's what this felt like unfortunately.

If I could give them 10 stars I would!! I’m long overdue on this review since I’m 2months post op, I had a breast augmentation with Dr. Jose Perez Gurri and they’re absolutely perfect from the size and feel of them. They look so natural even my scar is so tiny and fading already I’m sure it will be gone in a couple months. He blessed me and I couldn’t be happier!! Monica and Yolanda have been nothing short of amazing and helpful as well. This was the first surgery I’ve ever had in my entire life and they made me feel so comfortable and safe. I’ve been telling my friends and family about this place ever since I got them, Thank you Again ❤️ I’ve wanted to do this for years and feel beyond lucky to have done it here

I trusted Dr. Perez because he claimed to be an “artist” and promised lifted, perky results with large implants. He was confident my skin could handle it, but just six months later my breasts sagged and lost shape completely. They look almost identical to my natural ones — only bigger and heavier — and I now have stretch marks and thin skin from the weight.
Another surgeon confirmed the implant pockets were made too large and my tissue overstretched. I’m devastated and now have to go through another surgery to repair the damage with internal mesh for support.
Please be cautious — confidence and charisma don’t equal skill. Make sure your surgeon talks about tissue strength and long-term results, not just “artistry.” Bigger isn’t always better, and I learned that the hard way.

Wow I completely 10/10 recommend going here for breast augmentation. I moved to Miami by myself from Chicago so I don’t have much support out here but everyone made me feel so welcomed and comfortable from start to finish. Dr. Perez- Gurri is literally the sweetest most comforting surgeon and the whole staff is literally so kind and caring. Not to mention my results are so natural looking and I’m only 2 days post op. So glad I found them online truly could not have had a better experience.

I had my breast lift here and there are no words to describe what I feel. I felt safe. I felt heard. I felt like they cared. I felt like I mattered. Not just like any other patient.
